Won't you tell me why, why you treated me that way Hoping that you'd call, hoping that you'd want me But you never did Another promise to the wind Never thought you'd go, never thought you'd leave me So I’ll be on my way Thoughts of you will still remain Not knowing why I thought that I should say, the way I feel I can't explain Don't look down Won't you tell me why it didn't go the way we planned it Was it only me, was it circumstances Now it’s in the way Gotta learn to play around it Gonna let it be just the way I found it So I'll be on my way Thoughts of you will still remain Not knowing why I thought that I should say, the way I feel I can't explain Don't look down

It's what they said I should do as a young one Play the game by the rules to be someone Speak when spoken to and you'll learn more They never said you should be the way you are Run along now, mind your own, be a good boy Go and play now, don't forget what you've learned So run along now, mind your own, be a good boy for us Don't forget the things we say are right Because we saw it on TV They say that playing it safe was a wise move There's never five to a deck Make the right moves Big boys never break down when there's girls 'round They never said you should be the way you are Run along now, mind your own, be a good boy Go and play now, don't forget what you've learned So run along now, mind your own, be a good boy for us Don't forget the things we say are right Because we saw it on TV It's what they said I should do as a young man I played the game by the rules to be someone Speak when spoken to and you'll learn more They never said you should be the way you are Run along now, mind your own, be a good boy Go and play now, don't forget what you've learned So run along now, mind your own, be a good boy for us Don't forget the things we say are right Because we saw it on TV The way you are...the way you are...the way you are...

Aktavatar 04:25
The city of the heart is an old way to say it But the message is the same in the songs we're all singin’ The old age is dyin’ and a new sun is forming The planets are aligning, Atlantis is rising Storm warning, everywhere they're sayin' New dawning, now they are arranging Raise your minds, it's your time It's a new age, it's a new age You've made it here and now, not a moment is forsaken You've come to realize love's for giving not for takin' You're feeling so much brighter, your mind's becoming open That we live together is what we're all hopin’ Storm warnings, everywhere they're sayin' New dawning, now they are arranging Raise your eyes, you're alive Join in the age, join the new age It's a new age Our lessons have been learned and our lime is for playin’ The visitors' arrived and decided that they're stayin’ Cosmos sings the melodies, the planets play the tunes We all tune in together not a moment too soon Storm warnings, everywhere they're sayin' New dawning, now they are arranging Raise your minds, it's your time It's a new age, join the new age Storm warning, new dawning Raise your minds, it's your time It's a new age, join the new age It's a new age, join the new age

There’s only one way we're gonna make it through There's only one way I'm gonna be with you It’s truth or consequences, baby have it your way Ain't no point in talking 'bout it any more Ain't no point thinking 'bout what's in store You've had your time for playin', think I’ll get on my way I don't need you You don't need me Give me a break, babe What a fool believes You're all I've got, I’m all yours You know what I need, now give it to me Absolutely nothing's gonna hold me now Absolutely nothing's gonna break me down My mind is made up, gonna get on my way Ain't no point in talking 'bout it any more Ain't no point thinking 'bout what's in store You've had your time for playin', think I'll get on my way

The sky was so blue and the air was so still As we rode on the edge, as we followed our will But the day folded up and the sun sank from view Soon our shadowy world was indigo blue Then the clouds opened up and the rain god approached Bringing wetness and cold, bringing bold lightning strokes Now the storm thunders on and the wind shows no sign Of restraint in its rage, as the forest is crying Following our chosen path Never looking back Out to meet our fate head-on Riding on to the night In the dark and the cold, still we pressed on We were looking for light, we were searching for warmth Now our trail was obscured, wanting not to be found Our desire was strong, we refused to be bound Following the endless road One way to go Our fate is sealed, our time has come Riding towards the dawn Then we finally came to a tunnel of light At the end of our path, at the edge of the night And the clouds blew away leaving bright morning sun Then the reasons were clear for our last twilight run Following our chosen path Never looking back Out to meet our fate head-on Riding on thunder's road

Outlaws 03:57
It was late that evening when they rode into town With their heels clicking on the sidewalk No one waiting around It was late in the darkness They made their way through the night They were looking for trouble and the feeling was right Outlaws, taking over the western plains from town to town Taking possession of silver and gold, then into the sunset Storybook heroes can take me away To the places I’ve never explored They were quick with their six-guns The gun smoke cleared up ahead One more bit the big one, timing wasn't enough Again, another had lost it trying to close the eyes of the law He had drawn in the name of justice, another hittin’ the dust It was late that evening when they cleared outta town With their heels clicking on the sidewalk No one waiting around Well, life over there on the East Side had taken its toll ‘Cause the boys from East 49th Street had nothing to show Outlaws, taking over the western plains from town to town Taking possession of silver and gold, then into the sunset Storybook heroes can take me away To the places I've never explored

Hello 06:05
Hello, it's your neighbors calling Hello, it's your neighbors calling Hello, it's your neighbors calling with a mind telegram Understand it when you read it Never knowing when you'll need it Keep in mind, you may not see it's your master plan Journey to a foreign place, do you see where I am? Tell me now what you're feeling in a life as Earth Man You're about to rediscover something clear and something strong A part of you that you've uncovered; A part you've lost for so long Hello, it's your neighbors calling Hello, it's your neighbors calling Hello, it's your neighbors calling, we return to the stars Join us in our expedition, disregarding superstition Knowing what your mission is, give these actors new parts Come and join us with your feelings, flow within and without Realize we want to help you feel the force within your heart Welcome to the realms of ever as the clear perceptions start Now we know you can see clearly; now you're playing your true part

You thought you'd like to hear a band But I know you didn't expect to hear a band like us ‘Cause we're gonna turn it loud as we're playing at the speed of sound We hopin' that it turns you 'round As we start playing louder still Our voices start becoming shrill You know we do it for the thrill As we take you to the threshold of pain But first, a question for you all How much of it do you want? How much of it can you take? You know we're not playing games and we're hopin' that we'll never change Hopin' that we'll stay the same As we start playing louder still Our voices start becoming shrill You know we do it for the thrill As we lake you to the threshold of pain You thought you'd like to hear a band But I know you didn't expect to hear a band like us You know we're not playing games and we're hopin' that we never change Hopin' that we stay the same

about

We have to go back to the early 80s to find the roots of the canadian band TOUCHDOWN. In 1984 they released their debut album via Woolfe Records. To complete the line-up, Dave Temple, Perry Segal and Gary Hurley found a really good female vocalist, which was a rare stroke of luck.

Terry Kushner had a strong powerful voice and so the title song "Don't look down" and opener of the album normally would have been enough to convince everybody to buy the album. But if you have a look on the cover artwork it will be obvious that it could have been not clear for the people that TOUCHDOWN were into melodic Heavy Metal. So finally not too many people put it on their turntable.

The distribution worked more or less satisfying, but in the end sadly Canada was far from being the centre of the Metal world in that time. By listening to "Don't look down" today it is apparent that the band found a quite unique style and still is really worth an investigation today. The next album one year later sadly was the last release by the band. More information you will find in the booklet of "Tricks of a trade".
